Xavier Emery is a professor in the Mining Engineering Department and a principal researcher in the Advanced Mining Technology Center (AMTC) at Universidad de Chile. He holds an engineer’s degree (1998) and a PhD in Geostatistics (2004) from Paris School of Mines, France. His work is dedicated to the design of geostatistical tools, models and algorithms for spatial data analysis, and their applications to mineral resources evaluation, geological uncertainty modeling, as well as geotechnical and geometallurgical modeling of mineral deposits. His main research achievements are the authorship of more than 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and the book “Geostatistics for the Mining Industry” (2020). His academic background, experience and interests make his research activities at the crossroads between the fields of mathematics, statistics, and geosciences.
